The local chapter of the NAACP and Frederick Keys Baseball celebrated Negro League baseball history on Thursday evening, August 20, 2009. Before the Frederick Keys baseball game at Harry Grove Stadium in Frederick, MD, former Negro League players Jimmy "Beady" Bland (Indianapolis Clowns) and Eddie Banks (Newark Eagles) along with local minor league veteran Petey Cooper of Frederick threw out the first pitches and rubbed elbows with the Keys ball players.
